3D Skin Models

Researching biological effects and properties of raw materials and formulations plays an important role in product development. This does not only apply to the toxicological and ecological evaluation of future products but also to the support of claims during new product launches. Advertised product claims and product safety cannot simply be asserted but have to be demonstrated in appropriate tests. Thereby, in the biological field, the use of in vitro methods like cell and tissue cultures is as meaningful as in vivo testing of finished products on volunteers.
Phenion has many years of expertise in in vitro and in vivo testing procedures in the areas of skin research and experimental dermatology, based on both dermatological work for Henkel as well as joint research with the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main.
Phenion provides a complex full skin equivalent (Phenion® Full Thickness Skin Model) which consists of an epidermal and a dermal compartment. It is equally appropriate for a topical application of substances and products as for systemic dispensation of soluble substances. Phenion offers the Phenion® Full Thickness Skin Model itself as well as various test services with it.
As a Contract Research Organisation, Phenion is also your partner for joint research and development projects on a basis of tissue models and volunteer studies. Our scientific advisors help you to define your claims and the appropriate biological tests for working out product effects and safety profiles.
