Phenion acts on an international level, e.g. within the scope of the industry association COLIPA (The European Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association) and the EPAA (European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing). In COLIPA we work together with international expert scientists on the development, validation and official approval of new alternative methods to animal testing.
Phenion established an international scientific network between its own experts in skin and cell physiology and academic and institutional partners in respective fields of work. A building block of this network is formed by the collaboration with university partners such as the Centre for Dermatology and Venerology at the University Hospital in Frankfurt am Main. Phenion tests the implementation of the latest knowledge of the university´s basic research in relevant applications and standardised techniques.
For the development of new methods and techniques Phenion collaborates with highly specialised industry partners who have many years of experience in the development and use of alternative methods, as for example the company RCC-Cytotest Cell Research GmbH.
In addition to its in-house projects, Phenion supports the development of promising innovative approaches at universities, (e.g. new alternatives in the area of eye irritation at Gent University, Belgium) and also with private commercial partners (e.g. in vitro teratogenesis test development performed by the company Vito, Belgium.)
