In vitro models are being developed to support in future the toxicological safety assessment of raw materials and finished products. Our in vitro model development is based on our expertise in the area of both skin and cell physiology and tissue engineering. Newly-developed methods directly from our laboratories are being prepared for independent pre-validation and validation studies within networks of international laboratories. Phenion acts as a reference laboratory for carrying out such studies.

Currently Phenion is developing in vitro methods to assess the following potential substance properties or so-called "end points":

Sensitisation
Genotoxicity
Eye Irritation
