In Vitro Studies

In vitro studies facilitate the analysis of various cell biological endpoints which are not available in volunteer studies, e.g. protein synthesis, protein expression and ATP use. The studies are carried out in order to answer specific questions by flexibly using single cell cultures as well as the most diverse three-dimensional skin and mucous membrane models. Phenion has developed the Phenion® Full Thickness Skin Model which is used for our in vitro studies and the development of alternative in vitro methods but also commercially available. Particular consideration is given to the exposition time and the test concentration which must be tailored to the product type. In vitro systems are fundamentally suitable for generating information about the mechanism in an irritant reaction, e.g. the observation of intracellular processes and the quantification of inflammatory mediators which are released in the culture medium. Phenion´s over 10 years of experience in the field of in vitro research allows the meaningful use of in vitro and in vivo studies for claim support and for cutaneous tolerance.

All in vitro studies are carried out in compliance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.
